Greetings, from just outside the Labs of VGTI-FL’s temporary quarters on the third floor of the Torrey Pines Institute. We here at VGTI FL can watch the progress of our new facility simply by looking out the South and East facing windows. Not many of our 37 PhD’s do bother to look up from the benches in the labs where they daily observe the human immune system. For those not steeped in science, VGTI is an immunological institute - which means that we here study all the nuances of the human immune system so that we can better understand the impact of the immune system on infectious diseases, Cancers, and the aging process. (Ever wondered why seniors fall prey to pneumonia or influenza more easily than younger folks?)

Our institute is one of several in the new Florida Bio Medical Research Cluster (more about that later…). We focus on Human Clinical trials which puts us among those researchers who are working on actual humans with our research thus putting us closest of all to achieving treatments and cures for people with such diseases as HIV, TB or even Denge Fever.

So we follow our own mission statement which is “Translating Research Into Health” and in the coming days and months we will be bringing our work from the bench to the bedside. Stay tuned to learn more!
